Affordable Independent Living

For the Seniors of Markham

WHERE you live in retirement

will determine how WELL you live in retirement.

Where to begin?

This is the most common question people have when searching for a home to live out their retirement years. It can be a confusing journey, but we’re here to help guide you to where you want to be.

Affordability is, of course, the first thing you must determine. A good rule of thumb when looking for a place to live is that your housing costs should not exceed 30% of your gross income.

If 30% of your gross, monthly household income is LESS than the market rent of the apartment unit you want to live in, you can apply for subsidized housing through York Region’s Housing Access unit. While you can select Cedarcrest Manor as your desired home, Cedarcrest Manor itself cannot accept applications for subsidized housing, as this program is managed by York Region. Click here to go to the Housing Access web site and begin the application process.

Cedarcrest Manor also has market rent (unsubsidized) apartment units. For a market rent unit, you can apply directly to Cedarcrest Manor by completing and submitting the online application form.
